This UV sterilizer product requires a specific flow rate for it to achieve optimum kill. Use the recommended GPH rate to achieve specific results. It has been seen to help with ich and free-floating parasites and algae, but not with diatoms. It should be attached to the outlet side of the cannister filter for the best results. Users have described it as easy to set up, but the light bulb connections are cheap and don't work very well, and the moldings of the product are deceptive. Despite these complaints, several reviewers have praised the product, saying it works well, it is built well, easy to install, and cleared up their aquarium water quickly. They, however, indicated the brackets are useless and that the brackets and tubing should have been made of more durable materials for the price.
