The Field Tuff AS-80ATV12 Receiver Mount Spreader is a heavy-duty and sturdy product with some flaws in its design. It comes with a small agitator and is powered by a 12VDC motor. The spreader has a variable opening that controls product flow but may tend to stick open or closed. It has a directional control that sends the product out the back with about a 12-feet spread. Some users have modified it with a rectangular chute to aim the product to suit their needs. It can spread granular fertilizer and seed as small as Bermuda seed or alfalfa seed. The mount is on a receiver hitch, and the impeller only throws one way, making it necessary to rotate the hitch plates to work correctly. A person cannot shut the distribution hole while sitting in a John Deere Gator while turning around during application. Some assembly issues were reported, including missing nuts and washers, and users received extra parts with no description of their uses. Some parts malfunctioned, such as the motor, wire connectors, and the slide to close the hopper valve. The cord was also too short for some users who had to build extensions to reach the ATV power outlet. Some users found it challenging to put together and not secure when mounting to an ATV.
