Maxon Reissue Series OD808 Overdrive
The Maxon Reissue Series OD808 Overdrive pedal is a great addition to any pedalboard. It excels at hitting the front end of a tube amp, but also sounds great with solid state amps. This is a modern production version of one of the most sought after versions of the tube screamer, the 808. It is not a distortion pedal and will not provide metal-type tones. Rather, it sounds like the amp being turned up louder without the actual amplifier volume being turned up too loud. It produces great overdrive effects at low volumes which is suitable for home, studio, or small stage use. In terms of cosmetics, it might have changed slightly over the years but the newer models have been sturdily built. It is also true bypass. Although it might seem pricier than the TS9, it has a vintage vibe that stands out from other overdrive pedals.
