Evans Tom-Tom Drumheads B06G12 Editorial Review
The Evans G12 Coated Tom Drumhead has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from drummers seeking a well-rounded, versatile head that caters to a spectrum of musical styles and dynamics. Users appreciate the unique blend of durability and tonal balance that this head offers, which distinguishes it from its predecessors, the G1 and G2. Drummers transitioning from the G2 series — known for its robust durability — express satisfaction with the G12's ability to deliver a fuller tone while maintaining sensitivity at lower volumes. This is particularly beneficial for players exploring jazzier or more nuanced styles, as the G12 head opens up effortlessly with light strokes and avoids the “boingy” sound some associate with the G1. The deeper, rounder tones and improved responsiveness have left many feeling more connected to their drum kit as they perform across various genres. The tuning experience also stands out, with users noting that the Level 360 design allows for effortless pitch centering and fine-tuning. Many regard the G12 as an ideal middle ground — it provides the warmth associated with single-ply heads, while the added weight and control enhance its versatility, making it well-suited for anything from softer jazz vibes to robust rock sessions. However, a few reviews indicate that while the G12 excels in several areas, some drummers may prefer a bit more attack or less sustain, hinting at the diverse preferences in the drumming community. In summary, the Evans G12 Coated Tom Drumhead is an excellent choice for musicians seeking a balanced drumhead that performs well across genres and dynamic levels. **
