Avid Recording & Computer Editorial Review
The PACE iLok3 USB Key Software Authorization Device provides a significant upgrade from its predecessor, boasting a more robust Construction with a sleek metal casing that enhances its durability and portability. Many users have praised the compact design, making it easier to transport, particularly for musicians who often move between different computers to access their audio plugins and software. Some reviewers have found that the small size allows for better spacing between adjacent USB devices, which improves usability. While the device's improved build quality and functionality are frequently commended, the Consensus among users is that the price point is rather high for what it offers. Despite this, the iLok3 is seen as an essential tool for those utilizing software that mandates dongle-based licensing. It serves as a reliable solution for managing licenses, particularly in environments where internet connectivity is inConsistent or unavailable, such as certain studio setups. Familiarity with iLok’s client software makes the transition to the new device relatively seamless, with many finding that moving licenses from older models is a straightforward process. Users have noted the device’s capacity to store a substantial number of licenses (up to 1500), further enhancing its value as a long-term purchase. Individuals have also reported that while some audio plugins and software manufacturers require a physical dongle, the peace of mind offered by the iLok3 is worth the investment for many musicians and audio professionals. Overall, while some customers express frustration with the necessary expense, the PACE iLok3 is regarded as a trustworthy and functional option for software authorization, fulfilling a crucial need for those in the music industry. **
